Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW) is set to significantly enhance its club sports program by introducing 10 new teams in the fall of 2026. This expansion aims to provide more opportunities for students to engage in competitive sports without the commitments required by NCAA Division I athletics.
New Club Sports Offerings
The upcoming additions include:
- Tackle Football
- Women’s Flag Football
- Men’s and Women’s Rugby
- Men’s and Women’s Soccer
- Men’s and Women’s Volleyball
- Disc Golf
- Coed Running
These new teams will join the existing club sports such as men’s basketball, esports, and dance, bringing the total number of club sports at PFW to 13. This expansion reflects the university’s commitment to fostering a vibrant campus life and providing diverse athletic opportunities for its students.
Opportunities for Student Participation
Club sports at PFW offer students the chance to develop leadership and responsibility skills while enjoying the camaraderie of team participation. Unlike varsity sports, club sports require a less intense time commitment, making them accessible to a broader range of students. Many participants form lifelong friendships through these programs.
Students interested in joining any of the new club sports are encouraged to visit the university’s club sports page to express their interest and learn more about the programs. This initiative aligns with PFW’s goal to enhance student engagement and promote a healthy, active lifestyle on campus.
